Postpartum questions

  • I am a chef that specializes in food preparation that helps the postpartum body recover. I believe that food is one of our most powerful medicines, and the kinds of food you eat during this sacred time have a huge impact on the way your body heals.

  • Absolutely! I am experienced in gluten free, dairy free, vegan, vegetarian and allergy friendly cooking. I am gluten free myself, so I understand the importance of mindfulness when it comes to special dietary needs.

  • Nope! One of my favorite things to do is to prepare meals for the whole family. Can’t get your toddler to eat anything but mc n cheese? I’m on it! Can’t find the time in the day to prepare healthy meals that the whole family enjoys? I’m your girl!

  • Yes I can! If you are looking to stock your freezer, I can recommend some products that will help us keep it organized and manageable. We will work together to come up with a menu that works for you, your family and what you think you may be craving in the future!

  • I regularly provide both. For some people, they don’t want the stress of even thinking about the menu. In that case, I will design a menu at the beginning of the week, send it over for approval, and take it from there. Other people may have pickier eaters at home, specific nutrition goals or cravings that they would like help with. In that case, we can sit down together and brainstorm the next week’s meals. You are welcome to have as much or as little involvement in the menu planning process as feels good for you.

  • I offer a couple different options when it comes to groceries:

Option 1- I send you a list of ingredients I will need for that week. You can either pick them up yourself or get them delivered and have them there and ready for me.

Option 2- I place a grocery order for you to be delivered to your home.

Option 3- I take care of the shopping and charge my hourly rate for time spent at the store or farmers market. We will sit down and chat about your priorities for quality, types of products and budget.

  • As soon as possible! I have clients reach out when the stick is still wet, so my schedule tends to fill up well in advance. Don’t be afraid to still reach out if your due date is approaching soon though. Even if I am booked, I will refer you to other trusted doulas or chefs that share my style or values.

  • I accept cash, check or zelle for payment. If you are using a workplace benefit such as Carrot or Maven, I can help guide you through that process and provide necessary documentation.

  • Yes! I am a certified full spectrum doula who takes continuing education very seriously. I am trained through DONA and certified through ProDoula. I regularly attend classes to stay up to date on emerging ideas and skills.

  • Heck yeah! How and where you decide to birth and parent your child is none of my business. I am there to provide you with all of your options and provide constant unbiased support so you can make these very personal decisions from a place of assured confidence. It doesn’t matter to me what that looks like as long as it works for you and your family. I have experience with home birth, birth center birth and hospital birth, medicated and unmedicated.

Chef Questions

  • Postpartum doulas all kind of have their own individual ways of practicing. My style is to support the household, mother and support system so that they can find joy and peace in the early postpartum period. I love to handle all of the extra stuff, ie education, cooking, tidying, feeding support, emotional support, and whatever else I can do to help the house run smoothly, so you can cuddle your baby. I am great at assessing a situation and figuring out where I am most needed. Send me a message and we can talk about what that might look like for you.

  • Absolutely! I will come prepared with herbal recipes, recommendations, referrals and years of experience helping mamas feel their best after labor. Aside from physical recovery, I offer birth story processing support and make a point for regular, candid emotional check-ins. I’ll know when you’re holding back! I’ll prep you a cup of tea, get your heating pad set up and invite you to join me on the couch for an honest conversation about where you’re at and where you want to be.

  • Postpartum doulas provide short-term specialized support that is more mother and whole family focused. Whereas nannies tend to provide more long-term care that is tailored towards the children. I typically stop seeing my clients around 2 months postpartum, but that is flexible given your situation.

  • Yes! My hourly rate for daytime postpartum support and meal preparation support are the same. We will just have to chat to see what this will look like for you. If I am doing a whole day of meal prep, I won’t be able to provide as much support to mom and baby on that day. So we will just come up with a plan for how those two services can come together and best support you.

Birth Questions

  • My care looks a bit different for every family that I serve. My style is to provide a comforting, familiar, experienced presence during a time that can be full of unknowns. Think the feeling you get being around a favorite sister, cousin, aunt or friend. I am not a medical professional and my vibe is far from clinical. I am there to educate, empower, comfort and reassure not only the mother, but her support system as well. This can look like education before, during and after birth, hands on comfort measures, guiding the support people in what to say/do, insuring informed consent, just simply holding space while you whether the storm as a family, or really whatever else makes you feel cared for during your pregnancy and labor.

  • Absolutely I do! Whether you decide to give birth medicated, unmedicated, in a hospital, at a birth center, at home, or in a field, I’ll be there cheering you on.

  • This has never happened to me. Knock on wood! I don’t tend to take on more than one or two births per month, so I don’t find myself in this situation. However, if something happens, I have a group of back up doulas that I can call upon to step in for me. You will be introduced to the doula backing me up before you reach full term so it won’t be someone you have never met before.
